Under Palakiya Foundation's "Mitti Matters" project, this dispatch builds localized evidence to bridge globally recognised climate science and farmers' lived realities. It covers three villages in Zunheboto planting over 120,000 native saplings across 120 hectares; Mizo jhum farmers facing unstable planting calendars, rising chemical input costs and bamboo-flowering rodent outbreaks affecting roughly 800 farmers in Mamit; and a household survey with Team Zibon in Bhakatsapori and Rajankhat, Golaghat, where Mising and Kaibarta families report annual losses of Rs 20,000–40,000, yield declines of 20–35%, and no early-warning systems, crop insurance or fishery insurance.

Mitti Matters — Reports from Nagaland, Mizoram and Assam
A three-state field report (Dec 25 – Feb 26) on the economic cost of climate extremes for farmers — community agroforestry in Nagaland's Tizu Valley, rodent attacks and collapsing jhum cycles in Mizoram's Mamit district, and flood-to-drought whiplash in Golaghat's riverine villages in Assam.
